Heritage and Renewal
Saint Eleonóra Roman Catholic Church – Tiszavasvári
Built in 1912 based on the plans of architect János Balogh of Košice, the church is a listed monument in late Romantic style with strong neo-Gothic features. Over the past decades, its condition has deteriorated: a leaking roof, crumbling plaster, damp and frost damage can be detacted. The interior, still preserved in its original form, urgently requires renovation.
Standing prominently along the main road, the church shapes the skyline of Tiszavasvári. Its renewal will not only safeguard the building but also open it up as a venue for cultural and artistic programs – concerts, theatre performances – where faith and art meet. It will serve both the local parish and the wider community, enhancing tourism in the region and offering visitors a unique atmosphere of spirituality and culture.
